PPA for TOWA Pharmaceutical

Business cases

The Japanese pharmaceutical company Towa International has entered into a PPA agreement with Axpo Iberia, allowing it to consume energy sourced 100% from renewable sources generated at several solar plants within Axpo’s current photovoltaic portfolio in Spain.

Magnus Commodities has been involved in the negotiations, enabling Towa to cover 70% of its energy consumption with renewable energy at its headquarters, production facility, and R&D center located in Martorelles (Barcelona).

Undoubtedly, the PPA is a fundamental tool enabling a company to stabilize its energy costs and progress in its decarbonization objectives, while also facilitating the gradual implementation of renewable energy in the country. Agreements like the one reached between Towa International and Axpo Iberia serve as practical examples of what can be achieved with a clear energy strategy, which should encourage other organizations to advance in similar initiatives.
